In collaboration with
the English language and literature department, UIN Alauddin Makassar, LITA
held a webinar with the theme "Gender, Migration, and Diaspora in Women's
Literature of The Ummah", on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. This webinar
presented three speakers, namely Professor Amany Lubis (Rector of UIN Syarif
Hidayatullah Jakarta), Hasnul Insani Djohar, Ph.D (Lecturer at UIN Syarif
Hidayatullah Jakarta), and Dr. Rosmah Tam (Lecturer at UIN Alauddin Makassar).

The
Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Professor Amany Lubis, in her
speech, said that family plays an important role in strengthening the positive
values in each family member so that they are able to face all the challenges
of the times. The second speaker, Hasnul Insani Djohar, PhD. explained that the
life depicted in literary works reflects the real life. Therefore, literature
covers all aspects of human life, from the perspective of social, political,
economic, religious, including gender and the lives of migrants. Meanwhile, the
third resource person, Dr Rosmah Tami, explained the concept and context of women's
literature. She describes how women are depicted in literary works.
This
activity is a form of LITA socialization, as well as opening opportunities for
lecturers of linguistics and literature to join and contribute to further
